Cooperative Energy Futures does things differently.

In a time where our country is facing both environmental and economic crises, Cooperative Energy Futures (CEF) envisions a future where people own, manage, and use clean energy systems for all of our collective benefit.

While one person can only influence their own energy bills and use, many people acting together can change the entire landscape of the energy system.

CEF exists to transform both what type of energy we use and who controls and owns it.

CEF envisions a future where teams of people in every community are working to produce, manage, and wisely use the energy that they need to thrive. We do that by equipping members to build socially-just climate solutions through projects that ensure community ownership, enable participation by households of all incomes, and create pathways into the solar workforce for local community members

CEF has financed and developed 6.9MW (~$16M) of low-income-accessible community solar arrays that are cooperatively-owned-and-operated across urban, suburban, and rural Minnesota. This offsets the utility bills of over 700 Minnesota households for the next 25 years and we’re just getting started!

This is our cooperative energy future.
